Eligibility

Who can be employed?

Baylor University students who are eligible to work in the United States may apply for on-campus jobs. Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligible students have priority for hiring. FWS eligibility is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

NOTE: The following are not eligible to be student employees at Baylor University:

  • Incoming students who have not yet begun classes
  • Former or graduated students
  • Expelled students
  • Non-degree seeking students
  • Individuals who are only taking Continuing Education courses

Priority

We give priority for on-campus employment to students who have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and who have accepted Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility. FWS is a financial aid program.

Hour Limitations

Several factors dictate how many hours per week a student can work on campus.

As a student, you are NOT allowed to:

  • work during times that you are scheduled to be in class
  • earn more than your eligibility amount
  • more than 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes (when not in classes, students may work up to 4o hrs a week)

This is a Baylor policy intended to protect your academic pursuits.

Eligibility for Community Service Jobs

Community Service Work-Study Program jobs are designated jobs available only to those students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS). Students who are awarded Federal Work-Study and are interested in working with local non-profit organizations to provide services to benefit the local community may apply for these jobs.
