Fall 2025 Student Hiring is Here!

July 7, 2025

Read more below on important updates, reminders, and resources on everything you need to know in order to be successful during Fall 2025 hiring!

Rehiring Returning Students

If you have students returning to their work assignments in your area after the summer break, please begin submitting Rehire Requests soon! The sooner you submit your rehire requests, the sooner they will be processed. You can also submit a Mass Rehire Request if needed!

Hiring New Students

If you are currently reviewing applications for new hires, consider scheduling virtual interviews in July so you can make hiring decisions before the students return! Student Employment's volume is steadily increasing - the longer you wait to hire, the longer the processing time will be. To learn more about the Hiring Process, check out the Student Hiring Process Overview. Not sure where your student is in the hiring process? We have a Student Hiring Status Guide to help you!

Creating a New Position or Updating an Existing Position

If you are creating a new position for students to apply to, you will provide all the details in the Request for Posting Form. If you are updating an old position or creating a position that is similar to an old position, be sure to include the old req # for easy processing! As a reminder, the Department of Education requires universities to update job postings every year - so you can rehire previous employees to old positions, but new employees must be hired onto new, updated positions!

Recruiting Prospective Student Employees

Student Employment can help you recruit student employees! If you are having trouble getting applicants, send an email to student_employment@baylor.edu - the team will promote your position at New Student Orientations and via @BaylorStudentJobs on Instagram. Student Employment is also hosting a Job Fair during the first week of class! Sign up to book a table for your department now!

Contacting Student Employment for Assistance

Thousands of student employees will be hired over the next several weeks. As you are working with Student Employment, please be mindful of the hundreds of inquiries we receive per day. If you send an email for an issue, please wait for our response before sending a follow up email. While the typical student position is posted and a student hire can be fully processed and begin working within two weeks, the incredibly high volumes in July/August/September can delay hiring. Please hire early to accommodate anticipated delays!!!

Friendly Reminders

Incoming students are unable to work as student employees until they begin classes. If you are looking to hire FWS students, Student Employment also has resources to help you in your hiring - check out the FWS FAQs for more information.
